AREA Supporters’ Newsletter October 3, 2019

Dear Supporters,

We seem to be going through a quiet patch, waiting for replies on a number of fronts.

  • Getting the particulate monitors we purchased operational. Then we can get them out to residents.
  • We have sent a Freedom of Information request to the office of the Secretary of State requesting a copy of the reasons why New Monks Farm was not called in. They responded, asking for another month to look at it as it was a complicated development. We found that strange as, if it was looked at in detail by the Secretary of State, James Brokenshire, then all the information should have been to hand.

  • AREA OPEN MEETING – Friday November 8, 7pm at the Coop community space, opposite the main Coop in Shoreham.  Your chance to ask questions and put forward ideas.
  • CLIMATE CHANGE SUMMIT – Saturday, October 5 from 10 until 4 at the Ropetackle. There is a wide range of speakers – Committee on Climate Change – sustainability in the Orkneys – the Green Alliance and Peter Owen Jones discussing what  we can do to protect the environment. More information at   Tickets for the day are £20.

We are liaising with the residents of West St in Shoreham who are concerned about the traffic and resulting air pollution resulting from West St being used as a rat run.

We have written to Focus about the parking situation.

IKEA – There is still no word about the S106 agreements  (money)  from NMF for education , police etc. or about the ownership of a strip of land need for the magic roundabout for IKEA.

If you would still like to make a donation to AREA’s work  please send a cheque payable to Adur Residents Environmental Action with name and email  on the back and send to 29 Ship St.; OR by BACS:
